The top of my list will have to be DeLonghi DDE40E 40-Pint-Capacity Dehumidifier. Many rate it as the best
one you can get. The positive reviews are that the unit is quite compact, the
condensate tank is self-contained within the unit, unlike the others where they
had a tank hanging off the back. This represents a problem because it lies
always in the open. However, when you install the tank in DeLonghi you can no
longer access the water. You know how you always complain about the noise, but
with this new dehumidifier there is no noise, it is much quieter. It works
efficiently, or better said it does the job well, but it is very hard to expect
that it will take 80% to 50% of humidity in the large room in less then couple
of days, it will take some more time.
Soleus Air CFM-25E
25 Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat is a perfect choice if you are worried
about the amount of energy it is using. It uses the small amount and it is much
quieter than the rest. The control panel is better build, and it is much easier
to work with.
It is easier to
carry it around unlike some older versions. It is far better for smaller houses
and far better efficient than the others.
Santa Fe Classic Whole Basement Dehumidifier
has the ability to remove up to 106 pts. of moisture in 24 hours. If you have
problems with mold, rust and water damage.
Soleus CFM-40E has
one of the higher ratings. It is not noisy; it is very compact contrasted to
its capacity. It can operate down to 38 degrees Fahrenheit.
GoldStar DH504EL is the best for the areas that really need some extra care. It is rated to remove 50 pints a day, it does the job perfectly, but unlike the previous models, it creats a lot of noise. This is not maybe very important since you will be placing it in the basement.
